Date of project: 2013
Client: The Shefford
300 Cooper Street, Ottawa
Project role: Photographer
The Shefford Centennial Collection is a captivating embodiment of past and present. As I stepped onto the bullnose of the interior staircase, the amalgamation of humanistic and architectural elements coalesced in my mind, providing the impetus for the photographs in this collection.
My photographic approach to the project exploits a range of techniques, including black and white images with a warm tone, softness, contrast, architectural patterns and angles of view, to portray the old-world charm, tranquility and intimacy that characterize the Shefford.
I am deeply grateful to the Centennial Committee for granting me the opportunity to capture the Shefford and its history, and to the residents who kindly aided me during the photo-shoot.
